Chop Suey

Another Gok Wan meal. This one is from his cooking show Gok’s Easy Asian. The great thing about this dish is you can add any leftover meat or vegetables that you have to it!

Serves: 2
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Difficulty: Easy


Ingredients:

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • Pack of cooked prawns
  • Two rashers of bacon, diced
  •  One leek, diced
  • 1 spring onion, finely sliced
  •  2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • Thumbsize piece of ginger, finely chopped 
  • Stir fry vegetables
  • Half cap of Shaoxing wine 
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • Dash of fish sauce
  • 150ml vegetable stock 
  • 1 tbsp of cornflour mixed with a dash of water. 
  • 2 noodles nests, cooked

    Method:
    – Boil the chicken in a pan of water with a tbsp of dark soy for 15-20 minutes, until cooked.
    – Remove from the water and shred. 
    -Heat oil in a large frying pan or wok.
    – Cook the bacon for a few minutes, remove and set aside. 
    – Add the garlic, ginger and spring onions and cook for a minute. 
    – Add a splash of stock. 
    – Add the leek and stir fry veg and cook for a few minutes. 
    – Add the bacon, prawns and chicken and stir in. 
    – Add the Shaoxing wine, dark and light soy sauce, fish sauce, stock and mix 
    – Add the cornflour mixture and mix and cook for a minute or two.
    – Mix in the cooked noodles.


    Serve!
